Reports to: Maintenance & Facilities Manager
Job Summary
Advance Transit is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Maintenance Service Worker to join our team. This safety-sensitive role is vital to ensuring the cleanliness, fueling, and overall upkeep of buses, vehicles, and facilities. Responsibilities
- Inspect buses and vehicles to determine fuel, oil, and fluid levels; refill as needed.
- Maintain accurate fuel records when electronic tracking is unavailable.
- Refuel gasoline-powered buses and support vehicles at off-site stations.
- Clean and maintain the exterior and interior of buses and support vehicles as directed.
- Perform janitorial tasks for facilities, including offices, bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
- Conduct grounds maintenance tasks, such as mowing, raking, sweeping, shoveling, and sanding.
- Clean bus shelters and perform snow removal, salting, and sanding as required.
- Assist with additional tasks assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Senior Maintenance Service Worker.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- License: Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement required (training provided).
- Skills:
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to interpret safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Physical Requirements:
- Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds (frequently up to 75 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance).
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
- Work in wet/humid conditions and around moving mechanical parts.
- Training:
- Get paid while training: Advance Transit has designated Trainers to work with both CDL holders as well as to train non-CDL holders to get their Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.Training is a high priority at Advance Transit and a key component of our Safety Program. No experience necessary, we will train the right candidates
